Domains
A Domain is a logical grouping construct used to organize related data assets based on business function, ownership, and operational context. It acts as a governance boundary that structures metadata into manageable, business-aligned segments such as Analytics, Finance, Customer, etc.
Domains improve metadata discoverability and establish clear accountability by associating assets with specific owners and governance policies. They also promote consistency by standardizing how data assets are organized across distributed data ecosystems.

Create a New Domain
To create a new domain, follow these steps:
- Log in to Impetus LeapLogic Catalog.
- From the left navigation pane, select Metadata Catalog > Domains.
- Click + New.
- The Create New Domain window appears.
- In Name, provide a meaningful and unique domain name.
- In Description, enter a brief description to define the domain scope.
- In Tags, add relevant tags to improve searchability and classification.
- Click Save to create the domain.
A confirmation message appears indicating that the domain has been created successfully, and the new domain is displayed on the Domain home page.
View Domain Details
The Domains page displays a list of all created domains. You can browse or search for a specific domain and select it to view detailed information.
When you select a domain, the domain details page provides key insights, including:
- Total Assets: Displays the number of assets associated with the domain
- Data Products: Shows the count of linked data products
- Entities: Indicates the number of entities within the domain
- Domain Information: Includes owner, creation date, and current status
- About Section: Displays the domain description, if provided
This view enables users to quickly understand the scope, ownership, and composition of the selected domain.
