Metadata Management Overview
For the entire migration process, metadata management is paramount as it allows users to access data assets down to the tiniest detail. Here, all metadata about the applications are centrally stored in the Data Catalog.
The metadata repository is a server instance of your data store, and the data source contains information about the database (schema) you want to access. The entities can be database tables, views, ETL graphs, CSV files, etc. It automatically captures, and catalogues metadata for compliance and reusability.
Metadata is a set of data that provides information about other data. It can also be defined as the schema of other data. In LeapLogic, metadata management is a centralized repository that automatically captures, catalogs, and allows reusability of metadata.
Features of Metadata Management
- Data Catalog: A catalog of your data where all the application’s metadata is centrally available.
- The system automatically harvests (captures), catalogs, and publishes metadata for compliance and reusability.
- Tag management: The interface to create and manage tags that can be tagged with the repository and data source.
